About us
The Initiative for Heritage Conservancy was established in November
2008 as a not-for-profit charity with the aim of promoting best
practice in archaeological site management and planning in Greece as
well as abroad. The initiative will achieve its aims through tapping
highly trained human resources, developing educational programmes at
all levels, fostering research, facilitating access to relevant
information, as well as stimulating discourse. Since summer 2009, the Ιnitiative is under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture.
The
main supporter and one of the instigators of this initiative, Lloyd
Cotsen, ex-chairman of the American School of Classical Studies
and benefactor of the Gennadius Library Athens, is one of the most important
culture benefactors in California. In order to ascertain the quality of academic
decisions, an international academic committee was set up. And to
ensure transparency, an international accountancy firm
has agreed to
audit our books pro bono. We are grateful to the foundations, museums,
universities, companies, public institutions and individuals who are
supporting our work.
